If you “get” the joke at the end of the following series of e-mails, you just might be a LEED nerd.

I suggest a mechanical engineering co-op student. BBQ assembly is part of the curriculum.

I love silly T-shirts, though I would rarely bother buying them. With that site, I get to read all the silliness without the purchase. Hooray!
Sagrada Familia = WOW.
Coming soon to Toronto streets: New fixtures and bike racks. Super awesome.
And speaking of Toronto streets, I could hardly believe my eyes when I read The Gardiner is being partially dismantled. And certainly there is overall truth to the reasoning for the destruction: beyond Jarvis, traffic gets whittled down to nothingness. I agree in principle, but not if they are replacing it with an 8 lane road. I am torn on the issue. What if volumes increase in the future? Build it again? Hm. Speaking of which: thinkToronto, a design competition. If only I had the time. I already had to let one competition slide because of work-related time pressure. Stupid work. It just never goes away.
Oh, hey… Flickr now hosts video (old news, I know). But at last, my first video post to Flickr (Truly, that video was the highlight of my week. Maybe my month).
Such derelict beauty. AOTU, Vanishing Point & Infiltration. If only free time existed for myself. I have not been on the roofs any unguarded buildings in a year, nor hidden basements or suchlike. Dagnabbit.

A bill came for one of my credit cards this month. It is 8 pages long. I think that is a new record for myself.
Everything you ever wanted to know about Lorem Ipsum.
Video: Singing in the Rain. Yeah, that is the good stuff. I wish I had that kind of style.
A few days ago, I cleanly climbed my first 5.11. Hoorah.
A coffee table in the form of a classic NES controller: awesome.
As if we all did not already know: Pirates prevent global warming.
Funny comics: Perry Bible Fellowship. It seems that it is either no longer updated, or very infrequently updated, but the archive is worth the journey.
Squirrel! Wait, WTF?
Khajuraho: sex and the sacred. Architecture as, literally, sex ed.
I. MUST. HAVE. A. Kei Car. Nissan Figaro at the top of the list!
Possibly the greatest advertising war ever.

Jerks.
My lawn tractor and lawn mower just got stolen. I have been up for way too long with the police, and CSI is coming out in a few hours to dust for prints.
I am sure they will be bemused by the quantity of dust that already exists.
I take this as a series of signs from His Holy Noodliness:
- I am too nice. Trust nobody.
- My stuff should be protected in a manner that makes Fort Knox seem like a shopping mall.
- Outsource everything. I do not need these headaches. I have enough trouble keeping everybody on track; I do not need the added stress of actually performing the labour.
- Grass is stupid. Xeriscaping and rock gardens from now on.
- I do not have enough TIME. How can I possibly expect to even bother with this design competition when everything around me is falling apart?
Guh. Rant, rant, rant. Simply put: the world sucks.

*Ring, ring*
~picks up phone~
“Hi. Are you single?”
“Sorry… what?”
“My name is Marissa. I found your number through a telephone dating service.”
~Pause. Think, think, think…~
“No. You did not.”
“Oh. Well. I must have dialled the wrong number then.” ~Pause~ “So, are you single?”
“Er… yeeeesssss….”
“Would you like to go out with a girl?”
“Um, no… not really.”
~Pause~
“Are you gay?”
“No.”
“Oh. Well. Good night.”
*click*
Um. Come again?

One of the significant differences between driving an automobile and riding a horse is that a car usually does not get startled by birds. Usually.

Alas, alas, I did not go to the opera this evening. Gosh. I was looking forward to it, too. But I did spend the day in Toronto, which is always good.
I went first to a photography equipment show. It was very disorganized, but there was plenty to see. Then I tried to go to a bookstore devoted to architecture. When I found the shoppe, it had a little note on the door reading “Closed for the month of May.” Seriously. Argh.
I realize I “need” a new camera. My beat up old A540 has served me well, but the lack of image stabilization, noise at high ISOs and lens cover failures are starting to be very bothersome. I am trying to choose between a XSi or a G9. I love the creative control and raw power of the SLR. But the portability of the P&S cannot be ignored. Having tried both… well, the decision is difficult. The XSi has image quality at 1600ISO comparable to the G9 at 400ISO. The difference is that great. The biggest question is this: will I actually carry around a SLR? And is it worth investing in something that I will use less than my current camera, no matter how much better it is?
Do not be fooled by the XSi’s LivePreview. Cool as it may be, it slows down focusing so much as to render it fairly pointless. So I feel: your mileage may vary.

well, at least it is not just me who can not use the left shift key. Seriously, TF? h, look, right shift key is now picking random keystrokes to ignore.
I just had a peek at my transcript online. My program GPA is 3.94 of 4.00. Taken at face value, that translates to an average of 98.5%.

I see that Facebook has implemented a chat function.
I remember years ago, before AJAX existed, chatting to other people in my class using a frames-based server-side push system. We evolved from that, to ICQ, to MSN, and now back to web-based chat.
I get a funny feeling that soon, Facebook will eclipse MSN Messenger. It seems all that my e-mail account ever gets used for is receiving Facebook notifications. There is a 50% chance that if you sneak up behind someone on a computer, they are using Facebook. It has become an unstoppable force.
Right. Back to doing taxes. #$%^ing taxes.
